My bathroom décor creations, interior works, and bowls are no less than fine art. I treat every work as an extension of my sculpture, my design, and my reputation. These works are unique, custom, elemental creations of simplicity and the luxuries of nature. I am the sole creator of these works and see these creations as representations of myself, through material selection, craftsmanship, respect, and design. Therefore, as with all of my art, I hope these works will be passed down through families as artifacts, heirlooms, and elemental symbols of time. Please…enjoy.
The Elements:
The elements of my work are the products of time and nature, and these elements together form the ecosystems and cultures of earth. Like the planet the elements of my sinks coexist in harmony and significance. Stone, the most ancient of materials, represents the physical shape and essence of time. Wood expresses the tree and the forest, an organism, a system, life. Bronze and steel are entwined with human history, a narrative of obstacles and advancement, a narrative not unlike that of all the earth’s inhabitants. Together the materials of my works are one in the same as the materials of the story of life, and in time, as always, these elements will provide environment, sense, and comfort.
The Method:
For my sculpture as for my interior works, my method of creation begins in concept and design. The general procedure is that the client contacts me through email or phone. I view the space, through visitation or photograph, learn the material interests of the client, and then I proceed to design and drafting of the work. I will produce design options suitable to the space for a project-specified design fee. Upon decided interest, I begin and finish the piece and, depending on arrangement, deliver. Installation is dependent on the design, the site, and availability.
* a note on the practice of commissioning…
To commission an artist for services and a work of art is a time-honored practice of patronage and civility. Most all of the greatest works of art ever made were the products of commissions. The commissioning of an artist is the beginning of the artwork itself, even before the chisel touches the stone, or the molten bronze flows from the crucible, the artwork has already begun in tongues. To dedicate ones funds to the abstract unknown of a future artwork can be a bit unnerving, but enjoy it! This is the experience of art. This is where the story you will tell your family and friends will begin. So, become a patron, tell your friends, and enjoy life deeply. |
